The web application CEI ProDiS allows you to access a database containing the values of Ng for a position identified by latitude and longitide within the Italian territory: such a number is representative of the average number of lightnings at the ground per year per sqared kilometer.
CEI ProDiS requires the user to be authenticated: you need to click on the botton “Login” and insert the same username and password you use to access MyNorma (the CEI e-commerce website).
If you don’t have username and password (e.g., it is the first time you perform a purchase on CEI MyNorma) you must register by filling the registration form.
Moreover, you are required to provide the invoicing information.
Once authenticated, if you have no credit available for the access, the system will automatically offer to purchase the credit fore 1 consultation.
Once you access CEI ProDiS, the system – if there is no credit left for the currently authenticated user – automatically proposes the purchase of 1 (one) consultation.
It is also possible to buy CEI ProDiS credits directly from MyNorma, by selecting the CEI ProDis product and proceding with the payment.
The purcased credits will be consumed in the next consultations.
By purchasing one CEI ProDiS credit, you are gaining the right to consult the database of the ceraunic density. There are no time limits to consume the purchased credits (i.e., they will not expire).
The credit is consumed only when the Ng value is displayed. This means that you can stop a consultation before pressing the “Get it!” button without any cost.
ProDiS provides the Ng value related to the specified position as a real number, at the conclusion of the consultation process.
From the same page displaying the result it is also possible to download a PDF document containing all the information presented on the display.
Purchasing ProDiS credits is identical to purchasing any other product available on CEI MyNorma.
For further information you can see the Section Pagamenti of the Condizioni Generali di Vendita.
For Italian customers, the invoice of the online purchase will be sent by means of the Italian “Sistema di Interscambio” (SDI). For non Italian customers, a PDF invoice will be delivered to the email address provided during the Registration phase.
The applied VAT rate is 22%.
As explained in the page Usage Conditions (that must be carefulle read), by consulting CEI ProDiS, you purchase the right to use the data and not the property of the data itself.
The customer agrees that CEI is the owner of the data since it is the holder of the copyright, and that these rights are protected by national laws and international copyright treaties.
All rights, titles and interests in and on the products are and will be property of CEI, including intellectual property rights.
To access CEI ProDiS and display the result you have to:
No, it is not possible to re-enable a CEI ProDiS consultation: a new purchase is required.
The Ng value returned by the application is related only to the geographical coordinates that you inserted, expressed in WGS84 format (latitude and longitude).
The indication of the town where such coordinates fall in is provided only as a complementary information. Such an information is extracted from the geographical databases provided by ISTAT (the Italian National Institute of Statistics) and refers to the situation of Municipalities, Provinces and Regions before the 2011 census.
Cartographic representations are always subject to error and, therefore, there may be areas where the boundaries between municipalities can vary by a few hundred meters with respect to reality or other cartographic systems.
Instead, the information provided by the free application CEI FindIT is based on Google Maps.
Therefore, there could be significant differences – for example – between what is detected on the field with a GPS instrument, what is indicated by CEI FindIT (i.e. Google Maps) and, finally, what emerges from the ISTAT maps.
The level of detail of Google Maps is not the same for the whole Italian territory. If the point identified is not displayed with the zoom level automatically applied by the system when you click on the “Update” link, you can try decreasing the zoom level (buttons “+” and “-” which are on the left of the map) until when you see the area.
If you wish to consult Google Maps in full-page mode, enriched with all the available options, you can directly go to https://maps.google.it/: you will be able to get the coordinates of interest by right clicking on the point identified, selecting “what’s here” and finally clicking on the green Arrow.
The Italian territory was organized in a grid of square cells, each of them having side equal to L = 5 km: this choice leads to a realistic evaluation of Ng, so that such a value can be used as input data for risk assessment according to the CEI EN 62305-2:2013 standard.
Coordinate conversion accuracy results in an error of approximately 100 m. The application is built keeping into consideration the inevitable approximations due to the numerical calculation and, therefore, the values provided are always conservative.
